How the 4×4 + boat works
The pickup usually leaves from the Segunda Praia meeting point in Morro (another pickup can be arranged) and crosses Tinharé Island on sand roads to its southern tip. There you switch to a boat that crosses the Rio do Inferno in about 10 minutes to Boca da Barra / Velha Boipeba. Viaje na Viagem suggests the late-afternoon departure for the light.
Boat via Valença, step by step
- At Morro pier, buy a ticket to the Valença Ferry Terminal (Terminal Hidroviário) — not Atracadouro Bom Jardim.
- Morro → Valença: 35–40 min, R$ 40 (Dec 2025) (approximate, check).
- From the same terminal, board for Boipeba: about 1h20, R$ 63 (Dec 2025) (approximate, check). Book ahead; it sells out.
- Leave Morro with at least 1h30 to spare before the Valença–Boipeba boat.

Using the Volta à Ilha tour
The boat leaves Morro in the morning, stops at the Garapuá and Moreré natural pools and lands at Boca da Barra, Boipeba, for lunch — where you get off with your bag. The pools are only good at low tide: see best time and tides and aim for days near the full or new moon.
Tides and weather
Rough seas can delay or cancel boats, and the overland leg varies with the tide. Boats may land you on the sand. Keep your moving day flexible and confirm with the operator the day before.
What to bring
- Backpack or small bag; flip-flops for wet landings.
- Cash or Pix — not everywhere takes cards.
- Sunscreen, water and a dry bag for phone and documents.
- Seasickness tablets if going by boat.
- On arrival, porters with wheelbarrows wait at Velha Boipeba pier (priced by bag size).

FAQ
Is there a direct boat from Morro de São Paulo to Boipeba?
Not a scheduled one. By sea, the regular link means changing boats in Valença. Direct trips are only by private speedboat or by joining the Volta à Ilha tour with your luggage.
What is the fastest and the cheapest way?
The fastest scheduled option is 4×4 + boat (about 1h10–1h30, R$ 150–165). The cheapest is usually the boat via Valença (about R$ 103 in Dec 2025), but the connection makes it slower. Approximate prices — always check.
Does the 4×4 depend on the tide?
Part of the route runs on sand tracks, and operators say the trip time varies with the tide and the driver's route. Confirm the departure time the day before.
Can I bring a big suitcase?
On the 4×4, yes (operators accept large bags). On the Volta à Ilha tour, only small luggage, ideally a backpack. Boats may land you straight onto the sand.
Is there a fee to enter Boipeba?
Cairu council plans a Boipeba TUPA fee (R$ 50 per visitor) from 20 Dec 2026. Dates may change — see practical tips.
Do these options work from Boipeba to Morro?
Yes, the same routes run in reverse. Book the 4×4 with the operator, or buy the Valença–Morro ticket in advance if going via Valença.
